This plant has leaves with specific smell and refreshing. No wonder some foods and drinks in several areas in South East Asia, including Indonesia, have Pandanus amaryllifolius (Pandan Wangi) as additional ingredient. Besides that, Pandanus amaryllifolius is a source of natural green dye in foods.
And because it is used widely, it is not difficult to find it around houses in Indonesia. Pandanus amaryllifolius is shrub that can grow up to two meters. This plant can be found easily in rivers, humid places or swamps.
Its stem has branches and grows creeper. Its taproot is out from around the base of the trunk and branches of the plant.
Its leaves are single leaves with a length up to 80 cm and a width of 5 cm and will release a fragrant scent when crushed or sliced thinly.
Use Pandan wangi as Home Remedy for Rheumatic
Besides it has fragrant smell, it is useful to treat various diseases, one of them is rheumatic. It has various chemical compounds such as alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, tannin and polyphenol. Tannin has calm effect, so it is good to use as aromatherapy.
While other compounds such as alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid and polyphenol are collaborated to reduce pain and aches on parts of body that suffer rheumatic.
So, how can we use Pandan wangi to treat rheumatic? There are two ways:
-Takes 3 leaves of fresh Pandanus amaryllifolius.
-Wash them and slice thinly.
Boil a half cup of coconut oil. Then, mix the coconut oil with Pandanus amaryllifolius leaves. Wait until it cold and use the oil to rub parts of body that suffer rheumatic.
-Take 5 leaves of Pandanus amaryllifolius and 20 lemongrass leaves. Wash them.
-Mash them and add one tablespoon of eucalyptus oild and one tablespoon of gandapura oil.
Use the paste to rub parts of body that suffer rheumatic.
These are two ways to use Pandan wangi to treat rheumatic. To get maximum result, do this regularly. And, don’t get tired because home remedy like this need quite a long time to get effect.
